10 Commandments of War Propaganda - Arthur Ponsonby

Writer's picture: adminadmin

A useful framework to refer back when looking at a war or events leading to war. Relevant now with the current US-Russia and coming US-China conflicts. Our job (very challenging) as observers is not to be "deceived" by the propagandas.

First thing to do to see the "truths" is to forget labels "evil","good". Then ask ourselves: what are each side motives/goals/interests? What's the ULTIMATE flow of money (or resources) like? Buddha and Lao Tzu (Chinese philosopher) taught that in order to see the true nature of things, one needs to remove the notions of duality (good/bad, dark/light, evil/angel...). It means stop looking at people whether they are "good" or "evil".

Why ask those questions? Because my assumptions that I have learnt from wise people and I think they reflect the reality:

(1) We humans act on our own interests. We all always have motives when we do something.

(2) Often, the ULTIMATE things that we are fighting with each other is over money or more accurately, Resources. Resources could be tangible or intangible.
